Generator KVA Rating to Amperage Conversion Chart

KVA (Kilovolt-Ampere) is the rating most commonly used to rate a generator’s power output. The higher the KVA rating, the more power the generator produces. For adequate power to your equipment, you’ll need a generator with adequate KVAs. Our generator amperage chart will help you determine the right KVA to KW or AMPs conversion that meet your power needs. Given the various factors that impact amperage, please note that this chart is intended to be used as an estimator, and not an exact calculation of your amperage needs.

Calculating KVA to AMPs For Generators

One KVA equals 1,000 volt-amps, and is calculated by multiplying voltage and amps. KVAs are converted to AMPs. Our KVA to AMPs chart allows you to see exactly what kW or voltage the given KVA rating converts to so you can safely and adequately power your generator without the worry of a power overload that could potentially damage your generator and the equipment connected to it.

Since generators come in all different sizes and power outputs, KVAs will range in power they provide. Keep in mind our amperage conversion chart is an 80% power factor compared to the apparent power. This means that 80% of the incoming power does useful work.
